19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
